Be Fit, Be Healthy and Be Happy:
What is a Healthy Diet or a Diet Plan

A healthy diet is something all of us should have. Whether you are maintaining a healthy weight, trying to lose a few pounds or maintain a good eating habit. But what exactly is a healthy diet? What is the real meaning of a healthy diet? In this blog post, I will be sharing with you the most common definition of diet and how it’s basically one of the most important things you can achieve once you’re trying to live a healthier life and kickstart your weight loss journey.

Why is a Diet important?

It’s easy to get confused about what a healthy diet really looks like. We’ve all heard the phrase “eat less and move more,” but what does that really mean? What should you be eating, and how much?

A healthy diet is one that provides your body with all of the nutrients it needs in order to function properly. This includes carbohydrates, protein, fat, fibre, vitamins, minerals and water.

You can find these nutrients in different foods—carbs are found in grains, vegetables and fruits; protein is found in meat and dairy products; fats are found in oils or oily fish; fibre is found in whole grains; vitamins are found in fresh fruit and vegetables; minerals are found in meat and dairy products; water is found everywhere!

What to eat?

A balanced diet is essential for maintaining good health. It’s important to eat a variety of different foods from all the main food groups, including fruit, vegetables, wholegrain breads and cereals, dairy and meat.

It’s also important to cut down on foods high in saturated fat, sugar and salt.

You should try to base meals on higher fibre starchy carbohydrates (such as potatoes, wholegrain pasta and bread) rather than refined carbohydrates (white breads and pasta).

You should also aim to eat at least five portions of fruit and vegetables every day.

Here are a few healthy eating tips:

1. Eat plenty of fruit and veg – at least 5 portions a day

2. Cut down on saturated fat – such as butter and cheese

3. Cut down on sugar – this includes sweets, cakes and biscuits

4. Base meals on higher fibre starchy carbohydrates – such as potatoes, wholegrain pasta or rice instead of refined carbohydrates such as white rice or pasta

5. Try to avoid processed foods where possible – these tend to be high in salt, sugar and fat so they’re not always good for your health. If you do buy processed foods, check that they’re not too high in salt or fat before you buy them.

The Custom Keto Diet is one diet that has become popular in recent times. It depends on the principle of ketosis, i.e. using the body’s fat reserves, in order to create energy that we can use for our day to day activities. The diet achieves this by totally cutting out any carbohydrate consumption, so the body is forced to turn to its fat reserves for fuel.
